Auto pedestrian crash in West Ashley leaves one person badly hurt

One person was severely injured after being hit by a car on Wednesday morning in West Ashley.

At around 6:20 a.m. Charleston County Sheriff's deputies responded to an auto pedestrian accident involving two vehicles on Savannah Hwy near the Ponderosa Subdivision.

At this time one lane of both Northbound and Southbound traffic is open to traffic as the accident is being investigated.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office and deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division are investigating the accident and working to identify the victim.

Additionally a two vehicle accident, with no injuries, on Savannah Hwy Northbound at the viaduct is being worked causing additional traffic slowdown in the area.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution while traveling in the area.
