A Goose Creek woman is dead after an early morning shooting at the Moonshine Saloon in Goose Creek.

According to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury, 32-year-old April Infinger was hit in the back by a bullet at around 1:00 Sunday morning.

Infinger was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

Scott Bates said he was shocked when he received a text message saying his friend had been killed. He runs the Lowcountry chapter of the American Poolplayers Association.

Infinger had been part of the group since 2004, playing pool at the Moonshine Saloon Wednesday and Thursday nights.

"She's always seemed to love pool," Bates said. "Her husband plays pool. It's kind of like a family thing for her to do."

Bates said Infinger was out enjoying a birthday party for a friend when a fight broke out.

"Some people around her got into some argument, and she happened to be punished for other people's mistakes," Bates said.

The Berkeley County Sheriffs Office said there have been no arrests made in this incident. A description of a suspect has also not been released at this time. A spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office would not discuss the events surrounding the incident, citing the on-going investigation.

Bates said his entire pool association is mourning the loss of a friend and teammate who was known for her fiery, friendly personality.

"I never heard anyone say anything bad about her," Bates said. "She's one of those people who's a little feisty. She really enjoyed [the game of pool]. It was just fun for her."

Authorities are asking for anyone to call Crimestoppers at 554-1111 if they know anything about this shooting.
