According to police on August 28, officers were investigating the growth of marijuana in the county in a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division helicopter when they observed a liquor still. The owner of the property did not claim responsibility for the still.
The property owner explained that a storage building in her back yard was a social club where she sold food and beer. The woman later retracted that statement and said the social club was private and that everyone put money in together for the alcohol and food that she served.
Officers located 25 55-gallon barrels full of corn mash that were fermenting with a strong odor of alcohol. Two 5-gallon containers of what appeared to be moon shine were located by the still. Other items that are used to make moon shine were also seized.
No arrests have been made in this case.
