Ravenel woman killed in home invasion had just lost dad

Family members of Latorria Heyward say the 24-year-old had just lost her father, Herman Porter.

Instead of attending her father's funeral, family members found themselves planning bury her. 

"The tragedy of losing two family members within weeks is devastating," Debra Wright said. "We all love her so it's very hard for us. Leaving one funeral to plan another funeral."

According to Wright, Heyward's mother, she has two children plus counted her fiancé’s daughter as her own.

Heyward's facebook page is filled with engagement pictures and post about her upcoming wedding.

Heyward died when two armed men forced their way into her home on Savannah Highway demanding. According to deputies the robbery occurred Sunday at 2 a.m.

Heyward's fiancé was also shot during the invasion and is recovering at a local hospital.

Family said her wedding was planned for July 29.

Her father's funeral was held at St. Johns Baptist Church in Ravenel on Monday.
