(Detroit, MI)  --  A federal judge is suspending challenges to Detroit's massive bankruptcy filing from lower courts in Michigan.  Detroit's filing for bankruptcy last week sparked several lawsuits.  Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr says the Motor City needs bankruptcy protection in order to restructure finances.  Detroit's debtors and pensioners don't want to see their bottom line suffer because of the bankruptcy.  Judge Steven Rhodes heard arguments on the matter today and ruled that the federal courts have jurisdiction in the case.
