SpaceX Launches World's Most Powerful Rocket (VIDEO)

SpaceX successfully launched the world's most powerful rocket. The Falcon Heavy rocket is now in orbit after it took off from Cape Canaveral, Florida Tuesday afternoon. The rocket's 27 engines produced an estimated five-million pounds of thrust at liftoff and reached speeds just under 7,000 miles per hour as it broke through the earth's atmosphere.

The aircraft's two booster rockets landed safely at Cape Canaveral shortly after the launch, so SpaceX can reuse them.

The Falcon Heavy carried CEO Elon Musk's own cherry red Tesla Roadster which left the aircraft and is now embarking on its own journey to orbit Mars playing David Bowie's song "Space Oddity."
