Daniel Island is the most affected area by the closing of the westbound lane of the Wando Bridge, which is a portion of I-526. Motorists are being rerouted to Highway 41.
On Monday, the bridge was immediately shut down after inspectors from the South Carolina Department of Transportation found a broken cable inside the structure. The bridge will be closed at lease through Wednesday. The SCDOT will hold a press conference tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. to further update the public on repairs.
