Few things are better than a long drive down a scenic stretch of road on a bright, sunny day, twisting and turning along highways framed by patches of wildflowers and breathtaking views of the surrounding land. Add to that a few beloved passengers and the radio blasting all your favorite songs, and you've got a warm memory in the making.
According to a list compiled by Cheapism, the "most scenic highway drive" in all of South Carolina is the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway. This roadway in winding through South Carolina highlights the beauty of the surrounding nature, with gorgeous views of nearby mountains sure to take your breath away. Here's what the site had to say about the most scenic drive in the state:
"The 118-mile long Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway is so named because it skirts the base of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, where the Cherokee once lived. Mountains loom on the horizon for the duration of the drive along Route 11, which passes numerous roadside stands and peach orchards on its way through area villages."
