The legendary Martha Lou's in Downtown Charleston is closing after 37 years in business. Martha Lou Gadsden, the owner and operator of Martha Lou's, is now 90 years old and has provided the Charleston community with warm hospitality and exceptional soul food throughout her lifetime. The popular pink restaurant located on Morrison Drive in Downtown Charleston is closing due to development in the area. It truly is a tragic loss to lose such a wholesome staple such as Martha Lou's, which has provided the community with traditional Gullah-Geechee food for many, many years.
