A far-right German music festival went dry last weekend thanks to the efforts of locals in one of the neighboring towns.
Authorities banned the sale and possession of alcohol at the Shield and Sword Festival, but there was still a concern that concertgoers would be able to make purchases at local supermarkets.
The residents in Ostritz, which is near the border with Poland, decided to clean out the stores, buying up 200 crates of beer.
"The plan was devised a week in advance. We wanted to dry the Nazis out. We thought, if an alcohol ban is coming, we'll empty the shelves at the Penny [supermarket]," one activist told Germany's Bild tabloid.
