CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC/WIS-TV) - Publix says they are partnering with state officials to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to people ages 70 and up, healthcare workers, residents and staff members of long-term healthcare facilities, state and local government officials, and contractors who are critical to administering the COVID-19 vaccine.

Like every other vaccination site across the state, Publix will provide vaccinations by appointment only.

Individuals who were eligible to receive the vaccine could make appointments starting Tuesday, but all spots were booked within two hours of the 6 a.m. start-time.

Vaccinations at Publix will begin on Wednesday, January 20. Appointments could be made by visiting this link.

Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, Beaufort, Georgetown and Horry counties are reportedly fully booked.

After visiting Publix’s COVID-19 vaccination webpage, users will be given the opportunity to select their state. After selecting South Carolina, there will be a long list showing availability by county. Scroll down past this list of counties until you get to the “Book an appointment” button. Once the person clicks the button, they will be taken to a page that asks them to fill out their pertinent medical information. After vaccine seekers have filled out four pages of medical prerequisites, they will see a schedule they can click on to specifically select the date and time they wish to schedule their appointments.

Vaccinations are free and will be provided while supplies last. Individuals who make appointments to receive a vaccination with Publix will be asked to bring their insurance card and/or their red, white, and blue Medicare Part B card. If you do not have health insurance or Medicare, you are asked to provide your driver’s license or Social Security number.

Publix will provide vaccinations by appointment at 42 of its pharmacies statewide. You can see the locations below.

MUSC also still has available appointments that can be scheduled on their website.
