Tropical Storm Watch Issued for parts of South Carolina

CHARLESTON, SC (WSCC) - The National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for portions of South Carolina from South Santee River, South Carolina to Duck, North Carolina

A tropical low pressure system is continuing to develop off the coast of Georgia and will make its way up toward South Carolina and North Carolina over the 24-48 hours.

Forecast models on Saturday show a storm system in the tropics gaining steam over Florida has a chance of bringing heavy rains to the South Carolina coast in the early part of the upcoming week, with the potential of developing into a tropical depression.

ABC News 4 weather forecaster Chris Nestman says a wave of low pressure over Florida has a chance to become tropical or subtropical by Monday, with computer models predicting the storm system to pass over or very near the coast of the Palmetto State, bringing showers and thunderstorms through early Tuesday.
