COLUMBIA, SC (WSCC) - The South Carolina Emergency Management Division has upgraded its Emergency Operations to OPCON 4 as Tropical Storm Florence moves west toward the eastern United States.
SCEMD moved to OPCON 4 as of 2pm on Friday out of precaution for the storm, which is expected to restrengthen to a major hurricane over the next few days.
Gov. Henry McMaster posted on Twitter saying:
We just wrapped up our first conference call with emergency response leaders from across the state. Team South Carolina is ready to respond, please make sure you and your family take steps to be prepared as well. Visit http://scemd.org for the latest.
OPCON 4 is the second lowest Emegency Operations level for the department and allows the department to make preparations for possible impact.
