What is one thing that Charleston is well known for? Having a wide variety of restaurants to go to. Each one with their own unique take of cuisine, as well as the kinds of alcohol and wine they serve along with it. There is a potential tariff that could be passed that would greatly affect every owner/worker in the food and beverage industry. As of right now, the cost to import is affordable, however if the United States Trade Representatives do decide to add wine and other specialty goods to the trade retaliation list, the cost of wines and other goods will be extremely high. Mike Lata, the chef and co-owner of two popular restaurants in Charleston, FIG and The Ordinary is asking that readers and Charleston residents help petition the lawmakers to stop this so that the uniqueness of Charleston can stay the same.
