Turns out, the most important job on a nuclear-powered submarine isn't tending to the technology on board. It's simply closing the hatch before diving down.
The Indian Navy apparently learned that lesson the hard way after "human error" crippled the INS Arihant a while back, leaving the $3 billion vessel in dry dock, says The Hindu newspaper.
The February 2017 incident caused "major damage," with seawater flooding the propulsion compartment.
At the time the piece was written, the sub was undergoing extensive repairs and hadn't sailed in over 10 months.
