SC 01 US Rep. Nancy Mace issued the following statement on President Joe Biden's State of the Union address:
“Tonight I was hoping to hear how our country would address inflation, the crisis at the border, and that we would impose even more severe sanctions against Putin’s war machine. These are the issues keeping Americans up at night. Due to this Administration’s policies, inflation has increased every single month of the last year – the fastest rate in 40 years, eating up nearly a month of the average American worker’s pay. In our district, shelter costs skyrocketed approximately 25 percent alone and gas is up almost 50 percent,” said Rep. Nancy Mace. “One in six adults have reported they could not pay their full energy bill in the last 12 months; and around a quarter of Americans skipped basic expenses like food or medicine so they could pay other bills."
SC 01 US Rep. Nancy Mace continued:
“We had over two million illegal immigrants apprehended at the border last year. This Administration's policies encourage people to break the law rather than follow it. There's a record amount of Fentanyl and other deadly drugs coming across the border. Human trafficking is an issue in the Lowcountry of all places, too. So how will the Administration address these issues once and for all?"
“On Ukraine, rather than solely issuing a never-ending cascade of sanctions against Russia and hoping for the best, I would prefer to see our country lead these sanctions rather than lead from behind."
“Let’s restore the ability of Americans across the country to put food on the table, provide for their families, and at the same time, hit Putin where it hurts the most.”
