FROM GO FUND ME PAGE:

'Holden Beach Seafood's, shrimp boat, the Shayna Michelle (formerly the Winds of Fortune), and crew were trying to make their way back home to Holden Beach, NC before Hurricane Ian made it to our coast. However, Thursday evening, they were stranded about two miles off the coast of Myrtle Beach with engine issues. The coast guard was able to save the crew by helicopter but there was no way to get the boat to safety. The crew was taken to the hospital, treated for hyperthermia and released. Eventually, and in the middle of Hurricane Ian's arrival, the Shayna Michelle washed up near the Mystic Sea in Myrtle Beach. Help us get her off the shore and back catching those amazing local shrimp that we all love!'

Tressy Mellichamp. daughter of infamous former shrimp boat Captain Wayne Magwood said:

"Big thank you to my cousin Rocky Magwood, owners Aaron and crew, and Shem Creek’s Michael Turner for helping today. Along with many others I do not know. They were able to get her outriggers and nets off, and get some engine work done. Hopeful the heavy equipment coming will be enough to dig her out safely while Rocky and another boat pull her out on Monday. Thank you to everyone that has reached out to help this family. I keep hearing your dad would be so upset but let me reassure everyone that the ONLY thing dad would be upset about is this young man, Aaron and his family loosing their livelihood. It is a precious piece of history yes but we need to remember that this family needs our prayers and support. And fingers crossed she will slide off the beach and float! Thank you FB friends and family there is power in prayer!"🙏

Tune in 6-9 a.m. Monday to News Radio 94.3 WSC for updates from the current crew and boat's previous owners.
