The final five candidates’ full resumes for City of Charleston Police Chief race have been released before their visit February 6-7.
Jerome Taylor is currently the Interim Chief of Police for the Charleston Police Department. He has worked for CPD since 1972. Interim Chief Taylor has a Master of Arts degree in Management from Webster University. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Southern Illinois. He also is a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy.
Kenton Buckner is the current Chief of Police in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has held his position since 2014. Buckner has been with the Louisville department since the merger back in 1993.
He has a Master of Science degree in Safety, Security and Emergency Management from Eastern Kentucky University.
Joseph Clark is currently the Deputy Chief of Police of the Norfolk Police Department in Norfolk, Virginia. He has worked for the Norfolk Police Department since 1986. He has a Master of Science degree in Education with a Concentration in Counseling/School Counseling from Old Dominion University. He also is a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy.
Luther Reynolds is the current Assistant Chief of Police for the Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland. He has worked for the Montgomery County Police Department since 1988. He has a Master of Science degree in Business with a concentration in Information Systems Technology from Johns Hopkins University.
Michael Sullivan currently works as the Deputy Chief of Police for the Louisville Metro Police Department in Louisville, Kentucky. He has worked for the Louisville Metro Police Department beginning in 1995. Deputy Chief Sullivan has a Master of Science degree in Administration of Justice from the University of Louisville.
The five candidates will be acquainted with the city council on February 6 and interview panels will take place February 7.
