The South Carolina Aquarium has launched a new Earth Day initiative for 2018.
The aquarium opened up its new "Respond Gallery" Wednesday.
The focus of the new initiative is to educate aquarium visitors on how to reduce their plastic waste.
Aquarium officials say because of the food chain, plastic waste in the ocean is of great concern for humans as well as sea animals.
The aquarium teamed up with chemical engineering firm Ingevity for the project.
