Woman pointed gun at undercover detective during fit of road rage on I-526E

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC -

A woman is facing charges following a fit of road rage on I-526 Wednesday night, according to Charleston County Sheriff's Office spokesman Roger Antonio.

Niquel Simone Wheeler, 25, got angry at another driver while trying to merge from I-526 east on to I-26 west around 5 p.m. Wednesday night, Antonio said. She stopped on the merge to block the other driver and then presented and pointed a gun, according to Antonio.

The other driver just happened to be an undercover detective with the sheriff's office, who then told other detectives to stop the woman. When Wheeler was stopped, detectives found the handgun wedged between the driver's seat and the center console, Antonio said.

Wheeler is charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, unlawful carrying of a pistol, and possession of a stolen firearm.
