CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -
Many people came together to celebrate the life of a local radio legend Richard "Box" Bachschmidt who was found dead early Friday morning.
On Sunday, a concert was held in his memory at the Royal American in Downtown Charleston.Bachschmidt was a well-known radio personality for 105.5 The Bridge and 98 Rock before recently launching his own podcast, "Box in the Morning."
At the event, Bachschmidt's family took the stage promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
"Box is just the type of friend that would anything for anybody..he was just really generous and probably had the biggest heart out of anyone I've ever met," said Bachschmidt's friend Lisa Foster.
Donations were collected at the door and all proceeds of the event went to Box's family for funeral costs.
