Charleston's first Duck Donuts slated to open in August

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

North Carolina-based Duck Donuts will open its first Charleston location in August.

Duck Donuts will open in Westwood Plaza on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in West Ashley, according to a release from the company.

The new location, near the new Harris Teeter, touts made-to-order doughnuts with a variety of coating and topping combinations that include vanilla icing with sprinkles and maple icing with bacon. 

Their signature assortment includes "Peanut Butter Paradise," with peanut butter icing and chocolate drizzle; "The Boardwalk," a glazed doughnut topped with Oreo crumbles, powdered sugar and vanilla drizzle; and "Bacon in the Sun," with maple icing, chopped bacon and salted caramel drizzle.

The restaurant will also feature a viewing area where kids and adults can watch their doughnuts being made.

In addition to doughnuts, the store will serve coffee, tea, doughnut breakfast sandwiches and more, the release states.
