Officers capture man wanted for stealing nearly 100 items from gas station

Authorities have captured a man wanted for stealing nearly 100 items and a scooter from a Lowcountry gas station.

Officers have arrested 33-year-old Michael Dean Zimmerman.

He was wanted for second-degree burglary, three counts of financial transaction card theft, financial transaction card fraud and receiving stolen goods.

On July 10, police responded to the BP/Amoco gas station on 1256 Yeamans Hall Road for a burglary.

Officers say someone stacked up old tires, climbed up on them and forced open the metal screen to a large fan.

The suspect then climbed through the fan and gained access to the inside of the business.

According to police, the suspect took 40 packs of Newport cigarettes, 25 Bic lighters and 25 Gatorades.

Employees also reported that three customer credit cards were stolen and an E-Zip scooter.

Investigators said they were able to lift several prints from the office door, lobby window, unopened Newport packs on a work bench and on the floor.
