ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WSCC) - The city of Isle of Palms has topped the list of 20 Safest Cities in South Carolina, this week. The website Safewise published the list with 20 cities that are the safest in South Carolina according to the latest FBI crime report.
The list was evaluated based on population and the number of violent crimes in the city.
Safewise said, "Isle of Palms, a town of just under 4,500, went all of 2016 without a single instance of reported violent crime."
Five other Lowcountry cities made the list including Mount Pleasant, Hanahan, Port Royal, Bluffton and even Charleston. Charleston, which appeared last on the list, was thirty-five percentage points below the national average of violent crimes.
