Amazon to build package delivery center in Ladson

LADSON, SC (WCSC) -

One of the largest retail companies in the world plans to open a new center in Ladson.

According to documents provided by Charleston County, the site will be a package delivery center where tractor-trailers drop off packages before they're sorted and loaded on to vans for local delivery.

A site plan shows the company is prepared to dedicate 17,236 square feet to the planned tent-like structure with an address of 9801 Highway 78.

Amazon's application says two tractor-trailers will arrive at 1 a.m. and 40 employees will be on site between 1 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. 10 vans will then go out for local delivery between 6:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.

A site plan shows space for 19 vans in total. No opening date was given for the site.
