CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -
The Charleston Police Department has confirmed they have made an arrest in the case regarding an assault that injured a transgender woman.
Chief Luther Reynolds said in a news conference the department arrested someone in the case regarding an assault that occurred on Ann Street on Aug. 19.
Reynolds confirmed the person arrested was Christopher Price, the person Charleston Police were initially searching for and classified as a suspect.
Police made the arrest at around 5:30 p.m Tuesday, according to Reynolds.
According to Charleston PD officials, the victim and her friends were walking from other King Street bars to the Ann Street parking garage when the assault happened.
Authorities say a follow-up investigation revealed that the alleged attacker confronted the victim about the victim's gender identity prior to the assault.
Price's bond hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday.
