CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston International Airport officials say they are anticipating that their airport runways may have to close by midnight on Wednesday night.

According to airport officials, if that happens, airlines will cease operations and most businesses inside the airport may also have to close.

"The terminal is always open," airport officials said."Our parking facility remains open so passengers can pick up vehicles."

Airport officials stress that they are still monitoring Hurricane Florence and operations are subject to change.

If you're traveling to the airport today, you will need to take routes other than Interstate 26.

Authorities say Remount Road between Rivers and South Aviation Avenue is open in both directions.
