Proposed Wisconsin City Ordinance to Fine Parents of Bullies

If you have kids and live in Wisconsin Rapids, you could be on the hook financially if your son or daughter bullies another student.

The ordinance is being considered following a social media post showing handwritten notes that students sent to a middle school girl urging her to kill herself.

After receiving warnings first, parents would see penalties starting at $50 with additional costs bringing the total to $313.

The Legislative Committee in Wisconsin Rapids voted unanimously to move an anti-bullying ordinance to be considered next week by the Common Council, what do you think?

Do you see this potential ordinance cutting down on bullying? If so, how? If not, why?
