United Airlines Pilots Arrested For Being Too Drunk To Fly

Two United Airlines pilots have been arrested in Scotland, accused of being intoxicated before a flight to New Jersey.

The pilots were arrested Saturday at Glasgow Airport ahead of their scheduled flight to Newark, which was cancelled. Passengers were given meal and hotel vouchers and booked on another flight.

A United spokesman said the company has "a strict, no tolerance policy for alcohol" and says they're cooperating with local authorities.

Just last week, a Delta pilot in Minneapolis was pulled off a fully-boarded plane in Minneapolis and arrested on suspicion of being drunk.

Should there be extra penalties for attempting to fly while drunk?
