The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly agreed to a blockbuster trade that will send All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for three 2026 NFL Draft picks, including the No. 29 overall first-round pick, and a 2027 pick, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday (March 4).
"ESPN sources: the Chiefs and Rams are working on a blockbuster trade that would send All-Pro CB Trent McDuffie to Los Angeles for a package that would include the 29th overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft. McDuffie would be expected to sign a long-term deal with the Rams," Schefter wrote on his X account.
The Chiefs will receive a first-round, fifth-round and six-round picks in the 2026 draft and a third-round pick in the 2027 draft, a source confirmed. McDuffie, 25, was selected by Kansas City at No. 21 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft and was a member of the franchise's last two Super Bowl teams.
The California native was selected as a first-team All-Pro in 2023 and a second-team all Pro in 2024. McDuffie recorded 63 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, seven passed and one forced fumble during the 2025 season in which the Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
The reported trade came hours after the Chiefs reportedly informed starting right tackle Jawaan Taylor that they plan to release him before the start of the new league year.
