CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -
Toxicology results show the blood-alcohol concentration of the woman who died after crashing into a car in which Congressional candidate Katie Arrington was a passenger nearly double the legal limit.
Helen White, 69, died in the June 22 crash. Newly-released blood-alcohol test results indicate she had a BAC level of .153 on the night of the crash.
In South Carolina, it is illegal to drive with a blood-alcohol concentration of .08 or above.
The results were released by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office Wednesday afternoon.
White's car struck a vehicle being driven by Jackie Goff, a friend of Arrington. Arrington was a passenger in Goff's vehicle.
Both Arrington and Goff were seriously injured in the crash.
Arrington spoke publicly about the crash for the first time Friday, just after she was released from MUSC.
She thanked her family, friends and supporters for their well wishes, but also asked for prayers for White's family.
"To the family of Miss White: My deepest and most profound condolences," she said. "I remember everything. I did not lose consciousness for a second. And I just want you to know that your mom, your daughter, your sister will forever be etched in my memory and my family's."
