Police investigate incident at Georgetown hotel that left man dead

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCSC) - Georgetown Police are conducting a death investigation at a hotel.

Police responded to the Roadway Inn on 600 Church Street at 8:27 a.m. to a report of victims ā€œcovered in blood,ā€ Georgetown Police Capt. Nelson Brown said.

Officers found a man dead inside one of the rooms and a female suffering injuries outside the room. Officers say she was physically unable to speak when they arrived. EMS took the female victim to an area hospital for treatment.

Police said the murdered man have not yet released details on how the two were injured. Police say a day earlier, the victims had been placed on a trespass notice from the N. Fraiser Street Walmart.

Police say the couple were then given a ride to the hotel by a friend of theirs, who upon questioning by police, said that the the two victims had been in physically abusive relationship.

The Georgetown County Coronerā€™s Office has not yet released the identity of the man.

Investigation begins with report of injured person

Authorities say the investigation began when officers responded to the hotel for a case involving someone with ā€œobvious injuries.ā€

Responding deputies said it was soon determined that one individual was deceased and another needed to be transported to the Grand Strand Hospital for treatment.

ā€œThis is an active investigation as officers are processing the scene, gathering evidence and canvassing the area,ā€ police said on Monday afternoon.
