GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC) - Firefighters are working to determine the cause of a massive fire that broke out early Saturday morning at a Goose Creek apartment complex.

The fire was reported at the Coventry Green Apartments on Gainsborough Drive shortly before 6:30 a.m., according to Goose Creek Fire Battalion Chief Jared Harris

Harris confirmed shortly after 9 a.m. that everyone who lived in the building has been accounted for and is safe.

When firefighters first arrived on the scene, they reported flames shooting up as high as 30 feet in the air. Harris said the entire roof of the building collapsed and some floors have collapsed inside.

Twenty fire units responded to the fire with more than 50 fire personnel from Goose Creek, North Charleston and Berkeley County fire departments.

Firefighters say 24 units have been destroyed or damaged in the fire.

The building had both sprinklers and fire walls, Harris said.

City spokesman Frank Johnson said there were no reports of injuries and that the American Red Cross is at the scene working to help residents who have been displaced by the fire.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
