Legendary Lowcountry shrimper, Captain Wayne Magwood, was tragically killed at the age of 67 in early September after being struck by a truck while walking across the street in Mt Pleasant. The Mount Pleasant Town Council voted to name Shem Creek's newly renovated pedestrian bridge in honor of Captain Magwood and his family. Captain Magwood's death shocked the Charleston community, and specifically the shrimping and fishing community. Dirty Jobs host, Mike Rowe, was among those shocked by Magwood's tragic death.
