CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says they have arrested a man after he was found swimming naked in an elementary school pond.

Jason James Ammons, 41, was charged with disturbing schools after an incident at Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary.

An incident report states a school resource officer found Ammons swimming naked in the school pond at the back of the kindergarten playground.

Authorities say Ammons climbed out of the pond and collapsed on the bank as though he was exhausted.

The school principal was notified and deputies say the school was put into a “lockout” where all students were locked in their classrooms.

After they arrived, deputies say they put Ammons in handcuffs, but subsequently transported him to an area hospital for evaluation.

Ammons was then transported to Al Cannon Detention Center where he was charged and placed on a trespass notice, the report states.

Ammons is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
