JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says one person has died in a crash early Thursday morning.

Firefighters from the St. John’s Fire District say they also responded early Thursday morning to a crash that injured two others. The SJFD says they responded at approximately 2:30 a.m. to the 4400 block of Betsy Kerrison Parkway for a single-vehicle crash. Fire crews extracted two people who they say were seriously injured in the crash. A third person died in the crash, firefighters say.

The sheriff’s office says a vehicle was driving fast on Betsy Kerrison Parkway toward Seabrook Island when they ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

A rear seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle and deputies say that is the person who died. The driver and other passenger were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

The CCSO says all occupants of the vehicle were minors. Charleston County EMS also responded to the scene. The coroner has not yet released the name of the victim and the Traffic Bureau says they are investigating the collision.
