Captain Wayne Magwood continues to be remembered throughout the lowcountry after a tragic accident.

I was honored to be onboard the Winds of Fortune with Cpt. Magwood and crew one ‘Carolina Day’ back in 2015. Check out the video recap:

“Captain Wayne Magwood was an icon on Shem Creek and the waterways of the Lowcountry. Wayne and his beloved boat the Winds of Fortune symbolized the South Carolina coast and all that makes it special and unique. He was featured in Darius Rucker's Come Back Song video, The History Channel, The Weather Channel, Amazing Race and Dirty Jobs.”

Cindy Tarvin shares her Magwood Memories reflecting on Cpt. Wayne's legacy.

Mark Marhefka and others, continued to share their sentiments and stories about Cpt. Magwood this week on 94.3 WSC.

“Wayne was always so wonderful to Mark and I. Even though we are relative newcomers to the creek's fleet Wayne always was so welcoming to us. The scale we used to weigh our fish was given to Mark by Wayne and Mark shed more than a few tears this week as he weighed up fish. One thing Mark and I know is that Abundant Seafood wouldn't be who we are without Wayne Magwood coming first. He was the best representation of our industry and his boots cannot be filled,” Kerry Marhefka said.

Morris Island Lighthouse was lit Thursday from 7:30p -10p in Magwood's honor. Friday’s moonlight theater showed Forrest Gump with a portion of proceeds going to the Magwood family's charity of choice.
