It was one of my favorite 'beat' calls to make when I was first cutting my teeth in the newsroom as a journo fresh out of the College of Charleston. Back then, you'd scroll a 'rolodex' of contacts from law enforcers to lawmakers, 'touching base' each day or week on just about anything that was 'going on'.
'Cousin Arthur' was all that was on Arthur Ravenel Jr.'s card, with one number at 'The Farm'. He usually was the one who answered the line and ALWAYS shared. I've missed those conversations for some years now, but, will cherish my rare one on one time with such a legend. I have no doubt you're legacy will live in infamy kind sir!
“When you can go through this life at 90 plus years and never hear someone speak bad of an individual, that tells you something,” Maurice Washington said. “That this person was genuinely loved by all and lived a full life. A true life.”
